Privacy policy

This page explains what personal data this website processes, why, and what your rights are.

Who is responsible for your data

This blog is run by Mateusz Maćkowski, who is the controller of your personal data within the meaning of the GDPR. You can reach me at [email protected] with any questions or requests related to your data.

Reading the blog

This website does not use cookies or any other kind of tracking for visitors, and it does not embed any third-party content, analytics, or advertisements.

Comments

When you post a comment, the following data is stored:

  • the name you provide (published next to your comment),
  • your e-mail address, if you provide one (never published),
  • your website address, if you provide one (published as a link next to your name),
  • the content of your comment (published) and the date it was posted.

This data is processed based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the checkbox in the comment form. Comments are stored for as long as the blog exists, unless you ask me to remove them.

Comments are published right away, unless they look like spam (see below) or contain more than one link, in which case they are reviewed manually first. I receive an e-mail notification about every new comment, including the data listed above.

Spam protection

To protect the blog against spam, comments are checked by Akismet, a service provided by Automattic Inc. For this purpose, your comment, name, e-mail address, website address, as well as your IP address, browser user agent, and the address of the referring page, are sent to Akismet at the moment the comment is posted. Automattic is based in the United States and participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. See Akismet’s privacy information for details on how they process this data.

This is done based on my legitimate interest in keeping the blog free of spam (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Your IP address, user agent, and referrer are not stored on this website; they are only passed to Akismet.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to data portability, and to object to the processing. You can withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights (e.g. to have your comment removed), just send me an e-mail.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) in Poland.
